BCR NEWS (Mumbai): Leaders in the eye care industry, Vision Sankara, Mumbai part of Sankara Eye Foundation, will conduct comprehensive eye examinations for the employees of the Immigration Department at the international Airport. The event is to take place between 7th -10th August, from 10am to 4pm, at theInternational Airport Complex, Andheri.
The event will be inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP – Immigration Department “Smt. Aswati Dorje “.On the Philanthropic gesture by Vision Sankara, Smt Dorje says, ”Eyes are the critical component of the “Visual Sensory” experience. Through this Screening program organized by Vision Sankara, we will get a chance to evaluate the health of this primary“sense”, our eyesight. This evaluation will go a long way in in ensuring our ability to focus on performance during work thereby serving not only Mumbaikars but entire nation through this Gateway of India”.
Immigration officers play a key role in performing a number of security duties as they screen millions of passengersthrough complex systems. Constant stress and strain on the pupils coupled with rotating shift timings make theimmigration employees likely candidates for Computer Vision Syndrome, leading to Refractive errors and eye diseases that arise out of occupational and lifestyle hazards. Vision screening programs are intended to help identify employees who may have undetected vision problems and refer them for further evaluation.
On the goals of the upcoming event, Mr. ManojJeswani, Unit Head, Vision Sankara,Malad, says “Preventive Eye-care is a key area area that Sankara is focusing on and is constantly trying to raise awareness about. More than 30% ofthe Blindness cases in India are a case of Preventable blindness and unfortunately are not getting treated in timely fashion due to veil of ignorance, affordability or a label of incurable stamped over it. ‘The Vision 20/20’ programof Sankara aims to eradicate this preventable blindness.. As such we feel proud of equipping the employees of the Immigration department with quality eye care.”
