Tamil Film Producer V Swaminathan dies due to Coronavirus

BCR News (Chennai): Veteran Tamil producer V Swaminathan died of Covid-19 at a private hospital on August 10 morning in Chennai. He was 67 years old. According to multiple reports, Swaminathan tested positive for coronavirus a week ago and had been hospitalised ever since. Today morning, he succumbed to the illness and breathed his last. Swaminathan’s demise came as a shock to the Tamil film fraternity.
Swaminathan is survived by his wife Lalitha and two sons, Ashok and Ashwin. Ashwin, popularly known as Kumki Ashwin is an actor in Tamil cinema.
V Swaminathan was one of the owners of the production house, Lakshmi Movie Makers. In Tamil cinema, Lakshmi Movie Makers is one of the leading production houses. Along with Swaminathan, K Muralitharan and G Venugopal co-operated the company.
Apart from producing Tamil films, he had done supporting roles in a few films. Recently, Swaminathan’s son Ashwin got married to Vidya Sri during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Many celebrities including Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and director Ponram took to Twitter to offer their condolences to Swaminathan’s family.
Lakshmi Movie Makers made their debut in 1994 with Aranmanai Kavalan. The production house has bankrolled many important Tamil films such has Gokulathil Seethai, Priyamudan, Bhagavathi, Anbe Sivam and Pudhupettai.
