BCR News (Ajay Shastri/Mumbai): Ghoul, Netflix India’s first horror miniseries spooked New Delhi with an exclusive screening at Jagran Film Festival event at Cinepolis (Formerly DT Star Cinemas), DLF Saket, a day before its world-wide release. A Jagran Film Festival initiative, the new Netflix Original series is peppered with a host of renowned names – actor Radhika Apte, from the widely appreciated Lust Stories and Sacred Games, Manav Kaul, from Tumhari Sulu, noteworthy filmmaker Patrick Graham and talented producer Vikramaditya Motwane. They were all present at the event to engage in an exciting discussion about the entire Ghoul experience along with Jagran Film Festival Director, Mayank Shekhar, who is also an acclaimed Indian film critic. Netflix and Jagran Film Festival partnered up for the special screening of GHOUL in an effort to promote the story and making of the series. Jagran Film Festival is planning for more content tie ups like this in future to create the festival buzz throughout the year.
An Indo-American co-production, Ghoul is a chilling three part series set in a futuristic, remote military interrogation center where Nida Rahim, played by Radhika Apte, has to draw out a confession from one of the most wanted and feared terrorists at the time. What seems usual becomes unusual when the prisoner turns the table on his interrogators by exposing their secrets in a way that makes them realize that they’re dealing with a deadly, supernatural threat. The exclusive screening gave select few a peek into the unique and gripping film, followed by delightful conversations on the meaning of the series, how it was incepted and how the partnership with Jagran Film Festival came to be.
“It has been a rewarding experience partnering with Netflix to promote what is without a doubt, the next most anticipated series. Netflix has been doling out some high quality Indian content and we at the Jagran Film Festival feel nothing but pride to be associated with such great talent. The exclusive screening was fabulous as we also delved deeper in conversation about the story behind creating Ghoul – it’s surely going to be a favourite for horror enthusiasts around the world!” said Basant Rathore, Sr VP – Strategy, Brand & Business Development, Jagran Prakashan.
