IFFI 2019 Curtain Raiser
BCR NEWS (Swati Bhat/Goa): On the eve of Golden Jubilee Edition of the International Film Festival of India, the panel announced that this year IFFI registration desk received 9300 delegation requests out of which IFFI gave go ahead to 7000 requests. This year to make it more memorable IFFI will offer 3 additional screenings to movie goers. Out of which, one will be Open Air and other two will be at Inox, Porvorim (Purvari), Goa.
This year IFFI will offer an International platform to the local language and willing to showcase seven Goan Films in Konkani language.
This year IFFI has received 462 Film Entries from around the world.
In trying to take the festival to the remotest part of the Goa, IFFI is organising Mobile Movie Screenings across 18 constitutions across North and South Goa. The screening will be open air and open to public. These screenings will take place at Mandrem, Marcel, Shiroda, Pernem, Quepem and few more during 21st till 28th November. It will be held in one taluka per day.
Dr. Sawant also said that 200 students from the Goa Art College have participated for the first time in the Goa Art Mile, an art installation program.
One of Asia’s oldest festivals is all set to stage the grand opening on 20th November at Dr Shyama Prasad Stadium, Bambolim from 3 to 6pm. It boasts of a star-studded soiree with the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth who is also the recipient of the ICON of the Golden Jubilee award at IFFI 2019 and Bend It Like Beckham star Johnathan Reyes Meyers. Bollywood director Karan Johar will host the event.
Along with the official announcements, the 50th edition will enthrall the attendees and countless others with a cultural spectacle, a performance on the thematic of fusion music by noted music singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan and his band, who will bring alive the rhythms of India juxtaposed with international beats.
Important announcements for IFFI delegates :
1. This year IFFI is going paperless. So delegates need to book their tickets online. The ticket of any show will be available 48 hours before the screening and delegate will receive confirmation via SMS or registered e-mail.
2.Counter for tickets will open at 7.00am at the venue.
3.There will be a seprate counter for senior citizens and physically challenged delegates.
