Research reveals that injury and trauma are major health problems that are steadily increasing in third world countries. A study by WHO revealed that by 2020 this problem would have gained epidemic proportions making this the third largest killer globally. Among non-communicable diseases India battles with incidences of lives lost due to strokes. One of the leading causes for death and disability in India, strokes are estimated to have reached the proportions of 2.6% to 4.25% in rural and urban areas respectively. In order to tackle these hazards and prevent further loss of life, it becomes very important to exchange information and impart education and training on all aspects of Trauma and Stroke Care.
