BCR NEWS (Mumbai) Dr. Ajeenkya D.Y. Patil, Chairman, Ajeenkya D.Y. Patil Group, was conferred with the prestigious National Law day Award 2015 (Legal Education) for maintenance of the highest standards of legal education in the country. Dr. Patil has played a seminal role in improving the educational system to cope with the increasing complexity of legislative and regulatory framework and the challenges posed by a shrinking world.
The award was presented at the International Conference of Jurists and Writers held at the Convocation Hall, Mumbai University on 29 March 2015.
Dr. Adish Aggarwala, (President, International Council of Jurists) and Justice KG Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India did the honours for Dr. Ajeenkya DY Patil.
In his special written message Hon’ble President of India Pranab Mukherjee stated, “The jurists must play an important role in ensuring the wheels of justice move faster – both to give justice to the victims and to the people who are wrongly accused of crimes.”
“We are faced with the question as to how law can be and ought to be used to annihilate the act of terrorism from the world,” stated Justice H. L. Dattu, Hon’ble Chief Justice, Supreme Court of India in his note that was specially read out on the occasion.
Dr. Ajeenkya Patil stated, “I am so humbled and delighted to receive this prestigious award and it inspires me to work even harder in the field of law and justice.”
The International Conference of Jurists and Writers is organised by The International Council of Jurists, International Commission of Writers, Department of Law, University of Mumbai, All India Bar Association and Indian Council of Jurists.
