Fortis Hospital Noida hosts second Annual Neurosciences Update on Medical Quality & Excellence in Clinical Practices

BCR NEWS (NOIDA): Fortis Hospital, Noida held its second consecutive Annual conference on Neurosciences in Western UP yesterday. The concept of the conference was Emergencies in Neurosciences. The conference was thrown open by Dr. Yash Pande, Regional Medical Director and Mr. Gagan Sehgal, Zonal Director, Fortis Hospital, Noida. Other eminent participants were Dr. Sanjay Saxena, Additional Director & HOD, Neurology, Fortis Hospital, Noida, Dr. Rahul Gupta, Senior Consultant, Neurosurgery, Fortis Hospital, Noida; Dr. Manish Vaish, Senior Consultant, Neurosurgery, Fortis Hospital, Noida; Dr. Mary Abraham, HOD, Department of Anaesthesia, Fortis Hospital Noida.
The conference focused on the latest advancements in the field of Neurology and Neurosurgery in handling emergencies. The main highlights of the conference included lectures by eminent faculty with significant clinical experience and panel discussions at the end of each session. Senior doctors from the Department of Neurology participated along with Professors from prestigious institutes like the AIIMS, GB Pant Hospital and others. The conference was attended by nearly 80 senior doctors from specialities like Orthopaedics, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Dr. Rahul Gupta, Senior Consultant, Neurosurgery and Dr. Dina J Shah, HOD – Emergency Response and Trauma at Fortis Hospital, Noida spoke on acute headaches and initial care of trauma patients. His talk was accompanied by a demonstration of techniques to skillfully handle trauma cases, using mannequins.
Dr. Rahul Gupta, Senior Consultant, Neurosurgery, Fortis Hospital, Noida said, “Emergency in Neurosciences are poorly managed in primary healthcare centres due to lack of knowledge of the latest guidelines. Such patients are referred to tertiary healthcare centres but the golden hour of treatment is already lost. In acute stroke especially specific treatment has to be started within five hours. This conference was aimed at sharing basic but important knowledge of management of such patients so that the quality of preliminary care can be enhanced and the valuable lives of many patients can be saved. I am sure the doctors will also gain much from this academic feast.”
