BCR NEWS (New Delhi): Shoojit sircar’s upcoming family comedy film ‘Piku’stars Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Pathan under the banner of MSM Motion Pictures. The film also has Moushumi Chatterjee and Jishu Sengupta in supporting roles. The gorgeous Deepika plays a titular role named ‘Piku’ a protagonist working as an architect but spends most of the time with her hypochondriac dad played by Amitabh Bachchan. The film explores the dynamics of father daughter relationship as they take a road trip to Kolkata.
When asked about Irrfan khan as a co-actor, Deepika said “I’ve his intense image before, I thought he won’t interact and he is very stern and will look down upon me as a commercial heroine but he is completely different from the media perception. When I met him on the first day on sets I found that he is a very shy person, he doesn’t say much but when he says something he is extremely humorous, his comic timing is pretty much untapped.”
Telling about the character she said “The role was very challenging because every woman do multitasking and manage everything without complaining. It was almost theatre like experience for me as at the same time I had to deliver dialogues, act and work too. Every girl would be able to relate to the character and will identify that there is Piku in each one of us.”
Irrfan too praised about his co-actor and said “Amitabh bachchan is very patient and he never complains about heat or cold or anything. He is still very lively on the sets. No wonder how he maintains that freshness.”
When asked Shoojit about that one feature he found in each of the actor he said “Amitabh Bachchan is absolutely meticulous. He rehearses for about 15-20 times before. Irrfan listen to you. He picks up the ambience and keeps it in his mind. He understands and every time performs something different and that comes out very natural. Deepika most of the times say that I won’t say theline rather I would do it with my expression. So it’s a delight for a director”
Piku is Shoojit Sircar’s tribute to Satyajit Ray. Even the title is inspired by Ray’s short film Pikoo’s Diary and will be releasing on 8th May, 2015.
