BCR News (Ajay Shastri/Maharashtra): Green campus of Ajeenkya D Y Patil University (ADYPU) beamed with vibrant colors and cheerful ambience on the occasion of its Founder’s Day.
December 22 is an auspicious day in the institution’s history as it marks the birthday of the Honorable Chairman, Mr. Ajeenkya D Y. Patil. To make this a memorable day, various colleges of DY Patil Knowledge City Pune, put up stalls,organized different activities and donation camps, two-days in advance.
Cake was cut by tiny-tots and Birthday celebration event was organized by D Y Patil School of Architecture & International School in which several dignitaries participated on behalf of the Chairman.
Dr. E.B. Khedkar, the Vice-Chancellor of ADYPU greeted everyone with a Welcome speech on Saturday morning. He threw light on the efforts taken by the Chairman in laying foundation of the institution and successfully implementing helmet awareness and corporate culture inside the campus.He appreciated the Chairman for his optimism, good communication and vision. Dr. Khedkar enlightened the jam-packed auditorium saying that this day is auspicious as per the Hindu mythology as it commemorates the birth celebration of Hindu God Dattatreya, a combined form of Hindu male divine trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, popularly celebrated as DattaJayanti.
Ms. Shubhada Chapekar spoke on the occasion on behalf of all the principals of Ajeenkya D Y Patil Group. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman and talked about the initiative taken by the D Y Patil School of Architecture. Ms.Chapekar said that the Architecture students donated old but good-quality clothes to the under-privileged children and taught Art & Craft. Similarly, Dr. Debjani Das Gupta spoke on Chairman’s endeavor for excellence and innovation.
Taking the speech forward, Mr. P.V Bhagwat, Founder Member and Trustee of D Y Patil Group said that the idea to lay foundation of a private institute was in the minds of Mr. Ajeenkya D Y Patil since a long time. Mr. Bhagwat said that Mr. Ajeenkya D Y Patilhas turned his father’s (Padmashree Dr. D Y Patil) dreams and vision into reality and this young university is a result of it. He continued by saying that Padmashree Dr. D Y Patil focused mainly on maintaining academic standard above everything else.
Mr. Hrridaysh Deshpande, Director at ADYPU gave a Vote of Thanks to all the honorable speakers and acknowledged Chairman’s efforts in creating a positive ambience. He said that Mr. Ajeenkya D Y Patil believes in either positivity or neutrality and wishes to serve students who are in quest of knowledge. He won the hearts of people present there by saying that excellence has nothing to do with talent instead it matter what one does with that talent!
Celebration continued and ADYPU presented awards to its most-efficient teaching and non-teaching staff. Prizes were distributed in various categories namely security, teachers, administration, etc.
Among several activities conducted in the campus, D Y Patil Dental School held free dental check-up for special kids and blood donation camp for all.
Apart from this, Film Festival (conducted by School of Film and Media) and an inter-unit Cricket competition was organized by the University (ADYPU). Cricket championship started on December 20 and continued till December 21. A total of 13 teams participated in which colleges named their participating teams after famous Indian Team cricketers. They also held a Food Sharing activity where stalls were put up and food was free of cost. Some of the delicacies made were PinviDhokla, DahiDhapati, Cocounut Rice &Koottu, and so on.
D Y Patil School of Engineering took out Motor Rally for helmet and no-honking awareness along with stationery distribution in Sanmati BalNiketan.
The Technical Campus held a Book Exhibition whereas School of Engineering & Technology had organized organ-donation pledge campaign and distributed sweaters to under privileged students at ZP School.
School of Hotel Management in collaboration with Robindhood NGO made 100 kg Khichdi for distributing. They also made Christmas cakes which were put on sale and the cake for Birthday celebration was also made by them.
The celebration was followed by Cultural performance by various departments.
