Paresh Ganatra and Rajendra Gupta in the show Chidiyaghar

BCR News (New Delhi): On the day of elections, the morally sound and socially responsible Babuji (Rajendra Gupta) decides to go and cast his vote. Other members from the Chidiya Ghar household too get ready to cast their vote. But Ghotak (Paresh Ganatra) thinks that no candidate is worthy enough to be voted and considers the whole voting process a waste of time. He prefers looking at it as a much welcome mid-week holiday.

Babuji however does his level best in convincing the importance of voting to Ghotak. From explaining that voting is an integral part of the constitution and that as a responsible citizen, it was his duty to vote. But Ghotak is no mood to listen and is of the opinion that given the corruption and crime in India, this country is beyond redemption.

Meanwhile, Babuji goes to vote and is surprised to see that someone has already voted in his name, and on behalf of the other Chidiya Ghar members. Furious with the impostor, Babuji is annoyed on the entire voting system and decides to take action. In the meantime, at Chidiyaghar, lazy and unconcerned Ghotak continues to procrastinate going to vote. He then gets a call from his assistant TC saying that he has brought wheat and rice of good quality from his village and asks him to collect it as soon as possible. Upon receiving this news, Ghotak rushes to pick up the goods.

After seeing Ghotak’s attitude towards his country, Babuji explains to him that people always blame the government, politicians and the authorities for not performing their duties but the same implies to the people who don’t perform their duties by casting their votes. When it comes to their personal benefit they can walk miles for it, but when it comes to their nation it hardly matters to them. Instead of cribbing about the government and its functioning, people should take a stand and cast their vote by keeping aside their greed or personal benefits and elect the right deserving candidate.

Commenting on the track, Paresh Ganatra who plays Ghotak says, “ Ghotak is really fed up with the system and is against casting his vote. But Babuji who is man of ideologies,  does his best to explain to him that for the right candidate to come to power, requires people like Ghotak to cast their vote. In this way, they can select the candidate of their choice and contribute towards building the ideal society.”

Will Babuji’s teachings make any difference to Ghotak? Will Ghotak agree to Babuji’s idealogy?
